Finish Strong Sprint Triathlon – and Kids Triathlon
This inaugural USAT Sanctioned race at Lake Tye Park in Monroe was a huge success! Before the sound of the gun for the first wave of swimmers, the athletes were treated to the spectacular sound of a trio from Heritage Baptist Church singing the National Anthem. The race started off with a slight delay as we waited for the fog to lift. The pre-race prayer by Pastor Minnick wasa beautiful start to the day as we watched the fog rise and a rainbow appear.
This race proved to be a great one for the beginner to the elite. The crowd rallied to cheer on the final swimmer, soon followed by the finishing of the first male – overall winner – Joshua Fountain, age 23. Not far behind was the first female – overall winner- Louise Montgomery age 27 and a member of Team FASTT.
The participants all commented on the great time they had at this race. Everything from the course layout, volunteers, terrific music, swag, free massages and the food including ice cream at the end.
Look for this event to reoccur next year!
